Property Management
Sopris Property Management was founded by James Maguire, whose background combines accounting, real estate, investing, and hands-on property care.

After nearly 20 years in financial leadership roles, including controller for River Valley Ranch Master Association, James earned his real estate license in 2017. He spent 8 years as a Broker Associate with Christie’s International Real Estate in Aspen before becoming an independent realtor and beginning to build a portfolio of short-term and long-term rental properties throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
In 2026, he expanded Sopris Property Management to serve the public, opening an office in Carbondale and building a team supported by trusted local vendors and maintenance professionals.

Today, Sopris Property Management offers responsive, knowledgeable service backed by real-world experience as both property managers and real estate investors.

BROKER & OWNER
As an independent broker, James leads the firm with a strong commitment to the local real estate community and a hands-on approach to property management. Having lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for over 25 years, he brings deep local knowledge and long-standing relationships that benefit both property owners and residents.
James began his real estate career with Aspen Associates and later spent several years as a broker with Christie’s International Real Estate in Aspen, gaining extensive experience in the luxury market before becoming an independent broker. His background, combined with a foundation in accounting and investing, allows him to approach property management with both financial discipline and real-world insight.

Outside of work, James is an avid hiker who enjoys exploring the surrounding mountains. One of his favorite local hikes is the iconic West Maroon Pass trail from Crested Butte to Aspen.
Property Manager Assistant
Heather brings a wealth of experience, having been a successful property manager and licensed Realtor for 25 years in California before relocating to the Roaring Fork Valley.
She assists with key functions including property visits, tenant support, and maintenance coordination. Her extensive background in real estate makes her uniquely attuned to the needs of both owners and agents.

Our fix-it specialist, Simi is the one behind the scenes keeping everything running smoothly. He handles the majority of our maintenance requests with efficiency and care, helping ensure our tenants stay comfortable and happy.

With a background in general construction and a strong emphasis in plumbing, Simi brings both skill and experience to every job—big or small. He’s known for being punctual, professional, and consistently dependable.

He’s a valued part of our team and truly one of a kind in the world of handymen.
Short Term Rental Assistants
Jon and Carly are a husband-and-wife team based in the heart of the Roaring Fork Valley, where they support short-term rental operations with a strong focus on guest experience and property care.
Both working in healthcare, they bring a natural attention to detail, responsiveness, and a service-oriented mindset to every aspect of their role.
As long-time locals and avid outdoor enthusiasts, Jon and Carly have a deep appreciation for the valley and all it has to offer. Whether hiking, skiing, or exploring the mountains with their two young boys, Brooks and Hayes, they are closely connected to the community and lifestyle that draw visitors to the area.
In their role supporting short-term rental management, they help ensure properties are well-prepared, thoughtfully maintained, and guest-ready at all times.
